My personal philosophy of leadership is to set an example, treat people as they want to be treated, be accountable, listen actively and develop effective communication. Having a positive attitude and celebrating even the smallest of wins, is a part of my philosophy as well. I believe that a leader should be able to handle problems in a democratic way and be able to lead, trust and respect all employees. Changes occur in all organizations and as a leader I will be able to assist employees to be prepared for these changes and assist the organization with implementing those changes. As…

Leadership is a very powerful trait that many wish to possess, but only few have the ability to appropriately carry out the task. It is a trait that is not only God-given, but also learned throughout life as we are given many leaders to observe as we journey throughout childhood and into adulthood. With my service in the military approaching 28 years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve under some very talented leaders within my varied career in the Air National Guard. I’ve also been given many opportunities to travel to a variety of places and countries that most people that I grew up with in Mississippi only dream of visiting. Since joining the Air National Guard in 1989, it has been a rewarding career both as an enlisted…

Lastly, my philosophy on leadership is simple: lead by example, always help, and never quit. Quitting is out of the question for me. Using excuses instead of giving your best, giving up on something (or someone), or abandoning your responsibilities are things I absolutely do not believe in. Promoting excellence in others starts with promoting it in yourself. I have found from being in…

As the leader, I need to be able to drive my staff and students in the direction where success and sense of accomplishment is in reach. Each staff members, student, and parents needs to be on board and focus on the outcome. 7. My leadership philosophy therefore is influencing others to achieve a common goal through partnership and collaboration. Once this is achieved, then that "boot" that arrived in 1994 aboard the CGC Yocona with high CG dedication would not be let down by a misplaced verbal lashing. There is a time for sharp words in short order but we must have a keen eye on when they are to be…

Part of leadership is the ability to make a difference under difficult circumstances. But, what is a leader? A leader is a person or thing that holds a dominant or superior position within its field, and is able to exercise a high degree of control or influence over others. I portray the qualities that a leader has: persistance, determination, confidence, and passion. This past summer my gymnastics career went to the next level; I was offered a job at the gymnasium.…

The legendary American Military Hero, General George S. Patton once said, “Moral courage is the most valuable and usually most absent characteristic in men.” I also believe that moral courage is one of the most valuable characteristics a man can have, in that to truly be a man of character, you must first have moral courage in order to live and defend your values. Without moral courage, values become something that are easy to live when things are easy and you are just coasting along, but when the going gets tough, those without moral courage will be more apt to yield to the tide of ease, popularity, or pressure. I believe my values, along with my moral courage which has been tried and tested and proven to be unbending, complement the Army Values of the United States of America. My values help me to better live the Army’s values, and the Army values help me to better live my values. My core values fall under three categories: 1) devotion to my religion; 2) loyalty to my family and friends; and 3) dedication to self-improvement. The army values are loyalty, duty, respect, selfless-service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.…

We’ve all been there, being a part of a team, whether it be for work, school, or an organized activity, and having at least one team member that wasn’t excited, in the work. The lack of excitement affects the entire morale and production of the entire team, especially if that person is supposed to be the team leader, or if the team leader does not instill motivation in all the team members. The motivation of a person is a combination of many things, but as stated in Freedom of Life there are two very big contributing factors 1) desire and 2) energy to reach the end goal.…
