INTRODUCTION AND ITS BACKGROUND Background of the Study
Street food is ready-to-eat food or drink sold in a street or other public places, such as a market or fair, by a vendor, often from a portable stall. Most street foods are classed as both finger food and fast food, and are cheaper on average than restaurant meals. According to a 2007 study from the Food and Agriculture Organization, 2.5 billion people eat street food every day.
In the Philippines it is easy to prepare and eaten and consequently have become the staples of street vendors. Some of the foods are sold already prepared while others are cooked on the spot. Street foods are often seen as dirty, but this is only with unlicensed vendors. While most street foods are not particularly nutritious, they are convenient, fast and cheap.
Statement of the Problem
The purpose of this study is to know what street foods is, to know the factors why Filipino’s love eating street foods, who among the following age group is addicted to street foods, what are the diseases 2 they might get in eating street foods and how many Filipino’s especially Marikenos love eating street foods. These are the questions the researchers would like to know the answers.
1. What is Street Foods?
2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of eating street foods?
3. What diseases people might get in eating street foods?
4. How many times Filipino’s especially Marikeno’s eat street foods per day?
Objectives of the Study
These are the following objectives that the researchers would like to achieve.
1. To know what street food is.
2. To analyze the factors why Filipino’s love eating street foods.
3. To identify the weakness of the street foods.
4. To able to know what disease they might in eating street foods. 5. To determine how many times Filipino’s especially Marikeno’s eating street foods a day.
