Unconventional, intelligent, and gracious, she matched society with her quick Irish wit and charmed anyone who knew her. Not satisfied with the women’s role in society, she provocatively stirred emotions, thoughts, and ideas in her writings. Two such classic examples are “The Storm” and The Awakening. The idea for a woman to have sexual desires, human connections, and forthright adultery shocked and revolted the society she lived. This unconventional, innovative poet did not deter away her own personal thoughts and feelings from her judgmental peers. She relied on and stayed…

Apple, Inc. was founded in 1977 by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs in the U.S. At that time, the main product of the company was personal computers. After a success in the personal computer field, Apple started to expand their product area. They sold Macintosh, computer software, Pippin, video game console, Newton, world first PDA, iPod, mp3 player and so on. Some of their products were successful whereas others eventually failed. Both successful cases and failed ones contributed to Apple's current success, the status as the most innovative firm in the world. Their innovative idea with high technology and trendy design attracted customers globally. In fact, the brand image of Apple is related to its core competency, "creativity" and "innovation." In addition, "convergence" among Apple products is one of the core competencies of Apple. In other words, each of their products is related to one another or more:-For instance, Mac computer to Mac Operating System, iPod to iTunes music store. In this sense, once a customer buys one Apple product and is satisfied with it, he/she becomes a fan of Apple. It leads to a purchase of another Apple product in a series. This strategy is connected with their recent structural change, towards expansion of products to cover the whole IT industry. Through this movement, Apple is planning to establish the Total Information System (TIS). Recently Apple launched innovative product iPad, a type of advanced tablet PC. Apple is always pumping out new ideas to please their customers, even if they don’t even know it. For example Apple patented an idea back in 2017 allowing their phones to wireless charge through the wifi. That is just one out of thousands of Apples creative ideas. When you look at Samsung there phones are that creative. In Samsung’s ads they have been showing off their phones pencil, which allows you to write on your phone, but Samsug has just been taking steps back. I didn’t know we were going back to the Nintendo DS days where you need a stylist to play a game! Apple takes chances and is paving the way for other technology companies to do the same. Creativity goes a long way and can even give back to people in need. Apple gives so much back to people all over the world. They have given $100 million dollars to charity in the past year. All though they have done even more from devoting whole iPhones, iPods and cases to support RED. RED is an organization that is trying to fight AIDS. Samsung on the other hand does not give nearly that much back. They have only given 3 million back to charity and devotes none of there products to organizations or…

Since the early 1980's, when the establishment of Macintosh by the Apple company was established - mainly due to its involvement in various markets such as personal computers, and more recently; MP3 players and computer hardware and software - it has since then been known as one of the pioneers of the computer industry. With its computer products originally aimed at the market of education, home and professional creativity, Macintosh has now expanded massively across the globe as regards to their products and services. However with this in mind, and the fact that Macintosh currently dominates a worryingly small proportion of the computer industry whereas Microsoft dominates most of it; with their software compatibilities and compatible products used worldwide, it is still a relevant question – which I propose to answer within this essay – why and how have Apple/Macintosh's actions allowed them to survive as a business, even though Microsoft - the biggest multinational computer industry in the world – has been its largest competitor?…

A Comprehensive Philosophy of Humor: John Morreall What humans find funny is so subjective, thus it is one of the strangest things that humans do. With just a few actions or a few words, our whole demeanor changes and, “…Our diaphragms move up and down in spasms, expelling air from our lungs and making staccato vocal sounds (Morreall, 2). Why do we laugh? What is humor?…

Microsoft’s emergence as a software superpower was due to the unfolding of a unique set of circumstance and a combination of luck and skill. Since the early ‘80s, Microsoft’s has a good share of the market of personal computers operating systems but the rise of this company has been widely caused by an IBM’s wrong evaluation. In those years IBM was the world’s largest computer producer, but its managers decided to not invest money into development of personal computer technology because they thought that this sector would never been profitable, but only a niche market. When IBM’s managers realized that the market was growing very fast and the company was in danger to lose its leadership, they decided to base their personal computer on Intel microprocessor and Gary Kildall’s operating system, named CP/M, instead of developing their own. Kildall decided to not sign with IBM and their choice fell back on Bill Gates that bought an operating system based on CP/M and made it compatible with IBM’s machines, creating Microsoft DOS. Every IBM’s PC used this program, so MS DOS had a huge installed base, and the other companies who wanted to stay in the market could only develop a compatible software, also a lot of applications and complementary goods were developed for this platform and it generated a “virtuous circle” that made Microsoft the world’s fastest-growing software company. To be more functional for users and to fight against Apple, Microsoft decided to create a new graphical interface, named Windows and with that reached the leadership on personal computer operating system market and a large market share in many other software market such as word processor and presentation programs, influencing software and hardware industries thank also to its capabilities of encouraging…
