Structural Frames: Max Weber's Model Of Bureaucracy
The Structural Frame is a mental model. This is how one may view or understand the organization around them. This frame helps one to get a better understanding of how to deal with different issues and how to approach them. An individual or organization that fits into the structural frame category focuses on the goals, specialized roles, and formal relationships. Emotions are not involved within the decision making process.
Goals in a Structural Frame are important because everyone should be working together for the same mission. Establishing the vision allows the action plans to be executed properly. Everyone should be clear about what their role is in reaching the goal. Without structure, people become confused about what they are suppose to be doing. Structural Frame individuals acknowledge that hierarchies, rules, and policies are crucial in order to avoid mishaps.
Max Weber's model of Bureaucracy was proven to solve issues within the administrative system. This model was created by Max Weber (1864-1920), who was a German sociologist. A good example of a company that use structural frame would be a Hospital. A Hospital has a vision and mission statement to ensure that all employee are on the same page regarding the goals. A hospital consist of many different departments such as Administrative, Human resources, Surgery, Emergency and many more. Each employee in those have a specialized role that will complement the organization of the Hospital. Along with departments are rules and policies that are very important to follow to stay compliant. The structure allows the hospital to run efficiently and service the patient more effectively.
