Upon reading the first page, it is clear that the author understands that the English taught in the schools only benefit children that have had experiences with the language prior to the school; their homes and community. Even when writing, they are taught that adding an “s” at the end of a word makes it plural. Page 5 of the Students’ Rights go a lot more in-depth about this idea, as well as mentioning why some dialects are superior to others. Personally, I have heard my friends use this rule “ incorrectly” because when students are understood but their teachers in speech and writing, but are still corrected, then sent home to foreign parents who can speak a limited amount of English, there is a repeated cycle that somewhat confuses the student.
