Studying Abroad has become increasingly popular amongst college students - and for good reason. Studying in a different country can not only help students achieve more in their adult lives, but ultimately change their life for the better from the experience. Adaptation and tolerance is one benefit a student can gain from studying abroad. By living first hand in a unfamiliar place in allows you to learn empathy and understanding from those different from you. Independence and Confidence are traits commonly reported from students who have lived this experience. Typically a student will travel alone of with a few other friends, being put into new, sometimes scary situations that will for them to think differently then they may have before. By encountering these differences they are allowed to better understand not only the challenges other countries are put in, but the challenges of our own country and the world as a whole. The Study Aboard experience has also been reported to be helpful for students with their careers, finding jobs and marketing themselves better to potential employers. There have always been various matters of concern in our modern society, and one topical issue is studying abroad. According to Scott (1998), studying overseas has become a global trend, especially in English – speaking countries. As a matter of fact, when people’s standards of living improve, they often think about increasing their knowledge so they could have a better life. To do that, they are eager to study for higher education (i.e: university education) overseas. However, everything has its advantages and disadvantages, and studying abroad is not an exception. To my way of thinking, the advantages of studying abroad far outweigh the disadvantages. This essay is divided into 3 parts. The first part will discuss the academic benefits, and then introduce the effects of studying abroad for interpersonal development; the latter will describe future job opportunities of studying abroad.…

Does studying abroad always give more opportunities for international students? I strongly think studying abroad presents more disadvantages to international students than advantages. Even though some people believe that studying in another country gives international students unique experiences and opportunities that they may not find in their own country, I do not support this opinion. While I was in Australia for two years, I experienced culture shock and suffered from homesickness. In addition, I had to go through various hardships and cope with many difficult situations for myself. An Australian study reports that language, tuition cost, and feelings of isolation ranked the highest among problems faced by international students (qtd. in Lee and Rice 387). It is not a surprise to say that most international students suffer from all sorts of hardships in other countries. As I am an international student in the U.S., I think there are many problems faced by those who choose to study abroad, including the language difficulties, a strain on personal relationship, and adjusting to local culture and traditions.…
