Question 3
Ask the Muslim workers to delay their sunset prayers until a regularly scheduled break occurs, pointing out that North Woods in primarily a place of business, not a house of worship.
Answers:
As a manager of North Woods, I should create a workplace that is inclusive and bias-free. I should have the courage to take an active stand against prejudice and inappropriate, disrespectful behaviour. By asking the Muslim workers to delay their sunset prayer, shows that i did not respect their religions. This is unfair and will be categorised as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits workplace discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, country of origin, race and colour. So I should take possible actions, such as provide enough time for them to do prayers during break time which is on time of their prayer time. For example, if there are 20 Muslim workers, I can allow every five workers to go pray continuously. When I hire Muslim workers, I should be ready and understand their necessity. By being far and tolerant, I can get better teamwork as they satisfy with the management given. A peaceful workplace can be achieved. But the employer have the right to fill a complaint regarding this discrimination issues and have to make sure its authorized by state or local agency. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which EEOC helps enforce, "requires employers to attempt to make reasonable accommodations to sincerely held religious beliefs of employees as long as this poses no undue hardship to the

Jason Hendrix is a -year-old senior at the University of Delaware, majoring in economics. While on spring break in Florida, Jason was involved in a onevehicle motorcycle accident. In the accident, Jason was thrown from his bike to the pavement, landing on his back. A police officer witnessed the accident and immediately called for medical assistance. Emergency personnel arrived within minutes, and upon recognizing the seriousness of Jason’s back injury, immobilized his neck and secured him to a rigid board prior to transporting him to the emergency room of the nearest hospital. When he arrived at the hospital, Jason was conscious and complained of pain in his lower back. Upon examination by the emergency room personnel, Jason was found to have numerous abrasions and contusions, and loss of both sensation and motor control of his legs. After he was stabilized, a complete neurological exam was performed to assess and localize Jason’s injury. The neurological exam revealed the following: Jason demonstrated normal or near normal strength in flexing and extending his elbows, extending his wrists, and when flexing his middle finger and abducting his little finger on both hands. However, he exhibited no movement when medical personnel tested his ability to flex his hips, extend his knees, and dorsiflex his ankles. Stretch reflexes involving the biceps, brachioradialis, and triceps muscles were found to be normal, while those involving the patella and ankle were absent. In addition, Jason was found to have normal sensitivity to pin prick and light touch in areas of his body above the level of his inguinal (groin) region, but not below that region of the body.…

For example, because Title VII precludes religious discrimination, employees may ask their employers for "reasonable accommodation," which is essentially a change in company rules or policy that would allow the employee to practice his or her faith. An example would be a Muslim employee asking to have Friday afternoons off to attend mosque meetings. However, the employee is entitled to ask, but the employer is not required to grant adjustment that would cause undue hardship on the business, meaning that the accommodation is too costly or complicated to…

Imagine growing up in a home where religion is the basis for everything you do. For instance, your father is a minister which means that you are in church 5 days a week. As you are embossed in this culture, you begin to take on the traits, beliefs and practices associated with it. You are fully immersed into your religion which now becomes second nature to you. You are taught that God helps people in need and looks out for all those who worship him. As you grow older, you believe more and more that your religious practice is what gets you through. You are now an adult and finally have the opportunity to live on your own. You’ve just been hired by a fortune 500 company and you are ecstatic because, it is your belief that God is the reason you were put in that position. As you report in to your first day of work, you realize that it is all you have ever wanted and you pray to thank God for the opportunity that he has provided you. You feel a tap on the shoulder and there is your supervisor telling you that you cannot pray in the office as it is prohibited by company rules. Many of your co-workers see this and they approach you at lunch time. They all feel your pain because they too have been told that due to company policy they also could not practice their religion at work. This is a problem. You realize that growing up in a Utilitarian environment urges you to fix this problem for the greater good of all the people working in this office. Religion should be allowed in the workplace to ensure that all people are afforded the opportunity to worship as they choose, within guidelines. Happier employees make for a better, more productive work environment.…
