Sugar Coating of Tablet
Sugar Coating of Tablets
Coating process
Tablet coating is the application of a coating composition to a moving bed of tablets with the concurrent use of heated air to facilitate evaporation of the solvent. The distribution of the coating is accomplished by the tablets either perpendicular (coating pan) or vertical (air suspension).
Equipment
Most coating processes use one of three general type of equipment: * Standard Coating Pan * Perforated Coating Pan * The fluidized bed (air suspension)

Standard Coating Pan
The Standard coating pan consists of a circular metal pan mounted on a stand. The pan is 8 to 60 inch in diameter and rotated on its horizontal axis by a motor. Heated air is directed in to the pan and on to the tablet bed surface and is exhausted by means of ducts positioned in front of the pan.

A.) The immersion sword system
Drying air is introduced through a perforated metal sword device that is immersed in the tablet bed. The drying air flows upward from the sword through the tablet bed. Since the air is more intimately mixed with the wetted tablets, a more efficient drying environment is provided.

B.) Immersion tube system A tube is immersed in the tablet bed. The tube delivers the heated air and a spray nozzle is built in the tip of the tube. During this operation the coating solution is applied simultaneously with the heated air from the immersed tube. The drying air flows upward through the tablet bed and is exhausted by conventional duct. C.) The Pellegrini Pan System The significant improvement in the drying efficiency of the standard coating pan is achieved by the pellegrini pan, the immersion sword and the immersion tube systems. The pellegrini system has a baffled pan and a diffuser that distributes the drying air uniformly over the tablet bed. Perforated Pans All equipment of this type consists of a perforated or partially perforated or partially perforated drum that is rotated on its

In The Radicalism of the American Revolution (1991), Gordon S. Wood argues there were three distinct periods of social ideology in early American society, monarchy, republicanism, and democracy. While each era progressed chronologically, they were in no way distinct, with considerable ideological overlap occurring between them. The monarchy, which dominated American culture during the colonial period, was a series of hierarchical relationships denoted by various levels of dependency through personal ties. Republicanism, beginning in the 1740s, slowly chipped away at the fundamental principles of monarchical society. Revolutionary leaders highlighted the importance of classical virtues as changes in social demographics further disintegrated the traditional elements holding society together. The era of democracy, which Wood believes began after the defeat of the British, found its beginnings in the rhetoric of pre-revolutionary equality. This is the age when the revolutionary leader’s lofty ambitions of disinterested classical republicanism, was destroyed by the common man’s insistence on self-interested participation and a pursuit of personal gains.…

Therefore, Herb could mass market its product but since he started out making these utensils as a hobby, he does not own a factory or facility for production. So, in order to achieve this he must limit the types of writing utensils to its customers. This will enable him to produce larger amounts with ease and more consistency and at the same time adapt to mass market distribution.…

Fluted filter paper is effective in preventing crystal formation in the filter paper. It is also often used in filtering hot saturated solution used during crystallization. One major advantage of a fluted filter is that it increases the speed of filtration. The crisscrossing of the folds help alleviate the pressure to make the flow of filtration faster. The surface are of the filter paper also increases thus more solvent seeps and enter the flask. Fluted filter paper is also used in filtration that needs the solute instead of the solvent. In order to get the recrystallized benzoic acid, fluted filter paper was needed to be used.…

Operation of the diffuser is based on systematic counter current washing of the cane or bagasse by means of imbibition water. In practice, this is achieved by forming a bed of shredded cane or first mill bagasse on a conveyor. Water is added at the discharge end of the conveyor and percolates through the bed of bagasse and the perforated slats of the conveyor. The water dissolves the sugar in the bagasse and the thin juice thus formed is collected in a hopper.…

A tablet is a mixture of active substances and excipients usually in powder form, pressed or compacted into a solid. The excipients include binders, glidants (flow aids) and lubricants to ensure efficient tabletting; disintegrants to ensure that the tablet breaks up in the digestive tract; sweeteners or flavours to mask the taste of bad-tasting active ingredients; and pigments to make uncoated tablets visually attractive. A polymer coating is usually applied to hide the taste of the tablet's components, to make the tablet smoother and easier to swallow, and to make it more resistant to the environment, extending its shelf life.…
