In reviewing the case study of a thirty-year-old mother with four young children we can expect her annual costs for health care services to be exponential, and unfortunately health care costs are continually rising. Although this mother does not have any special health problems or any special health concerns for her children, there are many variables to account for on a yearly basis. It is important that she chooses the best health care option for her, and her family that isn 't going to become an imposition. This family has many options to consider, and many benefits that they can consider, in order to assure that health care does not become a burden, rather than an asset to keeping her family healthy.…
John is a Medicaid patient suffering from high blood pressure whose father recently had a heart attack. His recent search for a Medicaid provider within his area has left him on the outskirts of accessible healthcare and has decreased his utilization. His closest primary care provider is forty minutes away and he has to make his appointment two weeks in advance.…
Some cultures may opt for seeking treatment within a long term care facility or seeking treatment while being cared for by family and/or close friends (alz.org, 2003). It is important to have a good understanding of cost for long term care. Long term care facilities can range from $3,293.00 to $6,965 per month (longtermcare.gov). Living with family also presents costs to be aware of. For instance, having an in-home health aide can range, on average, from $19.00 to $21.00 per hour (longtermcare.gov). Costs may vary depending on any extra charges that long term care facilities provide beyond the basic room, food, and housekeeping (longtermcare.gov). With your comprehension on the disease, our communication will be quite good; however, if a friend or family member presents language or comprehension barriers, that may present some difficulties in providing instructions for…
For many years as Americans in our working society, we all hope to one day earn and save up enough money till we can reach our ultimate goal: retirement. Once we retire we assume the expression of “smooth sailing from here on out.” We assume that we can count on not only the money we have saved up, and a fraction of our previous regular governmental salaries, for those who are retired eligible military, as a stable monetary income. If we find ourselves in need of medical assistance, we look to Medicare and Medicaid. Unfortunately, for those of us who haven’t quite reached our golden age, we may not all be entitled to reap tomorrow, some of the benefits of today.…
Health Care utilization is one of the most controversial topics in the health system today. One of the main issues that Americans face today is the lack of adequate health care utilization. According to "University Of Manitoba" (2010), “Utilization of health care measure of the population 's use of the health care services available to them.” Factors that affect the utilization of health care can be both mutable and immutable. Mutable factors are those that are subject to change. Immutable factors are things that are unchangeable, such as race and gender. Anderson (2009), "the general belief…
As I was interview one of the people where I work, she was so naïve and told me everything that I need to know. She explains to me how the health care system operates back in the days, now and the future, my main concern the cost of insurance for staff and patients. Her name was Vilma Gaciar; she is a general manager where I work, and she has a bachelor in nursing. However, she manages the whole Broward County department, and her primary responsibility is to make sure all team managers are doing an adequate job by helping the patient and family members…

Health Care Administration is a profession I found myself drawn to. Early in my career I believed I wanted to be an attorney. As I entered college and began doing research, working with an attorney, I found that I had a knack for research and talking with people so I became a paralegal. When I graduated in 1999 as a paralegal, I fell on hard times, had children, but I did a lot of freelance work for different attorneys in the area. At this point, health care was not something I was looking to as a profession. In 2001, I came across a health care professional and after talking with her she said how she sees the potential within me to be in health care. At this point I was offered a job as a secretary within the infectious disease department at one of the major hospitals in Mississippi. This job started my 10 year journey to the introduction of my career in health care. As years went on, I realized that my calling is health care but I was confused as to what I actually wanted to do. In 2007, I entered and was accepted into the LPN program. I made it all the way to the last semester and I realized that health care administration was the key for me. Upon my more research I found University of Phoenix Health Care Administration Program and I have loved it from day one.…
Many people have trouble finding adequate healthcare. There are many things that go into finding a physician like insurance and transportation. In this scenario John is a full time employee that is eligible for Medicaid due to his low income. He has high blood pressure that needs to be examined as he has a family history of heart attack. The nearest participating physician in his area unfortunately is too far and John has to use public transportation to get to this appointment that might take weeks to make. This is a scenario that is very common in our communities and we hear of a lot. I work in a medical office and this is one of the most common scenarios we have. We currently have a couple that resides in the north side of Las Vegas and has to take public transportation all the way to the south side of the city. They do this for two reason to see the provider that they like and because we are participating provider to their Medicaid plan. This couple has many health issues but they still have to travel far to see the doctor that will take care of them when needed.…
Many families across the United States are spending more and more time receiving unpleasant medical testing, chemotherapy treatments, and long waits to see the doctor. Many families are making crucial choices in regards to paying the rent, buying food, or buying their medicine he/she needs.…
Health care Transparency is openness about the quality of healthcare provided, sharing information whether it be good or bad for the purpose of improvement. In the past, health care transparency was secretive, people did not want to share patent information for reason of privacy to their clients as well to avoid law suits. However there is a way in which you can share information without violating doctor patient privilege. The future of health care transparency looks as though it is going to improve, I say improve because I agree with Dr. Patrick Crawley that the movement will allow sharing of information therefore allowing improvements to be made leading to less law suits. Really kind of taking on a best practices type of mentality as well sometimes we need others to step in and help work through issues that may arise.…
“A Nation’s health system is a reflection of its values, resources, policies, and politics” (Pretzlaff Pg.54), so when analyzing health care in America it mirrors the tolerance towards freedom of choice. The purpose of the free market system is to allow choice among individuals and competition within health care providers. The intention is for maximum products and quality service. Challenges of America’s health care system include free market competition, Affordable Care Act options, and balancing the costs and quality of care.…
