In this essay, I will be arguing whether or not it is worth replacing heroin with desomorphine. Desomorphine is a Russian made street drug that is cheap, effective and extremely deadly. It can be made of products that can be easily bought and it has similar effects to heroin. Heroin is an expensive drug that in its purest form, is the most effective painkiller in the world. But, when purity comes down, it can be used as a deadly and illicit drug. Both desomorphine and heroin are from the opioid family of drugs and are depressants. This means that they slow down the messages from the brain to the body. Both these drugs are deadly but desomorphine is cheaper but also deadlier and heroin is a lot more expensive but has longer highs.
So, desomorphine consists of six hydrogen atoms, two oxygen atoms, one nitrogen atom and 24 carbon atoms. Heroin consists of five oxygen atoms, one hydrogen atom, one nitrogen atom and 25 carbon atoms. Both of these drugs are depressants. This is a type of drug that slows down the nerves signal that go from your brain to different parts of your body.
In one way of looking at it, Desomorphine is a lot cheaper than heroin. This is because heroin costs $100-$300 per gram, while krokodil …show more content…
Also, a withdrawal from heroin can last only up to a week. Meanwhile, a withdrawal from desomorphine can last up to a month. Withdrawal symptoms include vomiting, diarrhoea, and intense sadness and depression. These symptoms only last a couple of days in heroin users but a couple of weeks in desomorphine users. Therefore heroin is a lot less deadly and easier to stop. Desomorphine is also ten times stronger than heroin and also three times more additive. In fact, the name krokodil was given to the drug as it leaves the users skin looking like the scales of a crocodile. This is due to the soft tissue eating effects of
