Peterson’s college
has taken a number of steps to reduce carbon emissions and enhance environmental sustainability by implementing programs like “City Wheels, a car-sharing program, provides access to fuel-efficient auto-mobiles on campus.” While, our school offers Online classes that aids in reducing our carbon-dioxide footprint. For example:
Further, the Disciplinary Associations Network for Sustainability (www.aashe.org/dans) now includes more than 20 national disciplinary associations that have committed to focusing on climate change and environmental sustainability in curricula, research, and professional development. The group includes such diverse organizations as the American Chemical Society, the American Psychological Association, the American Philosophical Association, and the American Academy of Religion. Still needed are mechanisms for easily sharing the creative approaches that instructors and institutions are now developing for teaching climate change across the curriculum (Peterson 477).
According to Peterson I do think his points are well justified. I know his efforts are effective and great guidelines for college students.
I agree with Peterson “A key goal of a liberal-arts education in the 21st century must be to equip graduates with . . . tools and learning experiences . . . to ensure the health of our planet” (Peterson 477).
However, with that factor being addressed global warming is inevitable because we also have chemical plants that are pushing out a lot of carbon-dioxide on the daily basis.
