Movie Critique of “Awakenings”

Based on the Oliver Sacks’ 1973 Awakenings Based on a true story written by Oliver Sacks, Awakenings showed the true meaning between love and appreciation of life. It tells about the story about how Oliver Sacks discovered the beneficial effects of the drug L-dopa and administered in catatonic patients who survived the epidemic in 1917-1928. How Oliver Sacks takes a job at Bronx Psychiatric Hospital in 1969 where he is put in charge in several catatonic patients who under his guidance, tries the new drug and began responding to it. It is an emotionally moving film that delves into one of the worst fear in humans, losing the ability to function and feeling trapped within one’s mind. Another group of people that would like this movie are the students because the students should realize that not everyone is blessed with a healthy body and a lifestyle that is suitable for you, but the students should realize that there are other people out there who suffer so much and we should be thankful for the things that God has given us because not everyone is blessed with a perfect life.
