Summary Of Big Little Lies By Liane Moriarty: The Glass Castle

After I finished Jeannette Walls The Glass Castle during first marking period, I knew I wanted to read something more upbeat and filled with drama. I searched through my books at home and I found Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. The genre is Mystery and Drama which I love. I knew my mom read the book and loved it and is obsessed with the TV show. I love reading books before watching the TV show (or seeing the movie) so I knew Big Little Lies was a must read for me. This book did not disappoint and is definitely exciting and drama filled.

It wasn’t your typical book and that kept me interested from cover to cover. It was a very dramatic book, “Angry hollers crashed through the quiet, cold night air” (page 1). I 100% recommend this book. I would recommend this book to mom’s because it shows the struggles of being a mom and what moms have to go through every day. In the beginning of the story Jane was preparing for Ziggy’s Orientation day, “Jane had been mildly nervous about Ziggy’s orientation morning and conscious of the fact that she would hide her nerves from Ziggy, because he was prone to anxiety” (page 21). I would not recommend this book to those who don’t like reading books that really develop characters who the reader gets to know. Those who just want a basic scary mystery novel might not like this book because even though Big Little Lies is a mystery it’s not quite scary. It is a great beach read and can be read fairly quickly but it does have some depth and won’t bore you with the same plot as every other beach book.
