The article ”The myth of meritocracy in the era of Black Lives Matter”, claims that “the movement has played a key role in highlighting how race, gender, sexuality and class oppression intersect”(Funmilola Fagbamila). The article discusses how the Black Lives Matter movement fights not only for racial equality,but also for the oppression of gender, sexuality, and classes. Wright would be elated that the oppression and unreasonable killings of African Americans are being noticed by the public, however, Wright would also be upset at the sacrifices that were made in order to attract media …show more content…
The article “The Professors vs. The President: Has Obama Done Enough for African-Americans?” references the political fiction The Black Presidency, and claims that “Glaude's book helps explain the phenomenon of the last two years, in which a movement called Black Lives Matter has gained strength while a black man lives in the White House.”(Perry Bacon Jr.) The quote indirectly claims that Obama has done nothing for the equality of African Americans, while the movement Black Lives Matter, has been hard at work spreading awareness its ideals. Wright would disagree with Bacon’s claims on Obama’s presidency. He would write about how the election of a black president has already caused a huge step in racial equality despite Obama not spreading awareness on the topic
