Summary Of Cynthia Rylant's Stray
In the short story “Stray” by Cynthia Rylant, Doris, the main character, realizes that not giving up pays off in the end. She was at the dinner table and she would not give up, she kept trying and trying to persuade her parents, even though they ignored her. She had to constantly come up with new and creative ways, to keep the dog out of her parents way but also take care of it. At the start of “Stray” the family was at the dinner table and she was trying to persuade her parents to let her keep the dog. She implies that the dog is, “Not much trouble” Doris is trying hard. ‘’’I could teach her things”. “They continue to ignore her”.
