Summary Of Dr. Matthew Vines 'Apologetics'

Dr. Sean McDowell is a published author and speaker who holds a PhD in Apologetics. He is well known as an apologist and serves as Assistant Professor in the Christian Apologetics program at Biola University, while also still teaching at the high school level. McDowell discusses attending a seminar hosted by The Reformation Project, an organization founded by Matthew Vines, a man who has made a name as a practicing homosexual Christian. Vines claims that scripture does not conflict with monogamous committed homosexual relationships, and his organization seeks to train others on this idea, and have them move into their local churches in to engage with this information and bring change. McDowell states that when he introduced himself in a break out session, he asked if the seminar’s motto of love and acceptance for all attending applied to his beliefs as well, which opened the door for dialogue then, and continued dialogue with Mr. Vines.
Society has sought to push a new narrative, stating that tolerance now means accepting all views as legitimate, or otherwise be labeled as hateful. Vines himself stated that to truly love the gay community, you must abandon your traditional views on scripture and sexuality. The new cultural narrative on moral truth is that it hinges on subjective personal experience, or “what is true for me”. Biblical morality stands opposed as something that is objective and universal. It is discovered, not invented by our own paths. Because of these approaches and narratives, words such as tolerance and human dignity have become subjective and in some cases malleable. Contemporary culture views worth as shaped by our experiences, and my disagreement with your interpretation robs you of your dignity.
