I have read every single one of these author’s before in my life and I can honestly say I love each and every one of their diverse writing styles. The overall tone of this essay is ambivalent. McMillan has many mixed emotions of how writing makes her feel and this shows the reader that she has a true passion for the craft. The type of language she uses is sometimes foul language because she is so deeply in love with writing that she does not know how to react. Her audience are to those who would like to possibly pursue a career in writing and to the ones who have a passion for something and are just unsure about something. She is trying to inform the readers that writing is such an amazing way to express how you feel and how you want to feel. McMillan shows what it is to be an inspiration for other like for my generation. McMillan’s purpose of writing this essay is for one, to let out her feelings towards the art she is deeply in love with and two, so that others can see there is more to writing than just words. She is a great influence for everybody because you should never do something you do not like. If you want to pursue something in life, it is important that it is because you have a deep passion for it or else, you will not be happy. It is not about how much money you get out of something, it is about doing something that will help others in the process.
