strong girl; Millard Nullings- An invisible boy, scholar of all things peculiar; Olive Abroholos Elephanta- A girl who is lighter than air; Horace Somnusson-A boy who suffers from premonitory visions and dreams (he can see their future); Enoch O’Conner- A boy who can animate the dead for short periods of time; Hugh Apiston- A boy who commands and protects the many bees that live in his stomach; Claire Densmore-A girl with an extra mouth in the back of her head; the youngest of Miss Peregrine’s peculiar children; Fiona Frauenfeld- A silent girl with a peculiar talent for making plants grow; Alma LeFay Peregrine- Ymbryne, shape-shifter, manipulator of time; headmistress of Cairnholm’s loop; arrested in bird form. Before I keep going some definitions are needed, a time loop is pocket of time, but only for where it was created. For example, the story takes place in a London time loop that is repeating the London bombings but if they were to exit it would be modern day London. A hollowgast is an invisible creature that preys on peculiars and an ymbryne is a female syndrigast that can manipulate time, shape shift into a bird and protects peculiars by creating stable time loops. The conflict in the story revolved around the kids running from ymbryne catchers while trying to help their headmistress turn back into human form before she’s trapped as a bird forever. They haven’t resolved the issue yet but it will be in the upcoming book. I’m glad that they left me with more questions and concerns than when I started reading it. It really tied into the stories style. It was a very fun story to read. It kept me on my toes with its complete brutality along with the fact that the main characters were generally my age and younger made it more relatable making the story even more entertaining. I struggled to put down this book because its constant flow of action and suspense made me never want to put it down. I originally had low standards as to what how it would be but it knocked those standards out of reality. I was expecting a slow and boring story but it was so much more. While I am upset about the phone, there really are no suggestions I have for the author mainly because I was so stunned half the time to notice anything. I would completely recommend this book for anyone who enjoys more gruesome tales. It was a fairly easy read, well written and uses a nice mixture of common and difficult words. It has a storyline that draws you in but it is difficult to follow while distracted or multitasking. I would not suggest this to anyone that isn’t a high schooler or older due to the graphic wording. While this is one of the best books I have read, I am moving and now reading Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
