Background The author, Natalie Angrier, is one of many successful graduates of Barnard College. According to barnard.edu, the college was founded in 1889. It was the first college in New York City that allowed women the opportunity to obtain a liberal arts degree. It was also one of a select few universities in the world that allowed that same opportunity. Many of Barnard’s graduates, have been leaders in the fields of art, business, government, and science. They have also been activists in a plethora of causes. Today, the college is one of the best all women colleges in the United States. The college also is now an affiliate with Columbia University. This university will always have an uniqueness about it that very few other universities can match. What kind of degrees does a college like this offer?
