Summary Of Lack Brains By Henry Mencken
In the essay, Mencken says that students, “cannot think clearly because they lack brains” and “teaching them is as hopeless as trying to teach a dog with only one hind leg”. I disagree with both of his statements. People with cluttered minds do tend to write badly only because they can’t fully express what they are trying to say. To say that people write badly because they lack brains is incorrect. Anyone can write an essay using the “bit of brains” they have but without clear thinking, it will not be fully executed nor will it flow well. Using Mencken’s essay, my statement may be rebutted because he thinks that,“If a man can think in English at all, he can find words enough to express his ideas”. While what he says is slightly truthful it
