The author goal in this piece of the Atlantic voyage was his story. It was memoir the life of Gustavus Vassa by Oloudah Equiano about his journey and what he experienced during his childhood and the pain and sorrow he felt at cargo ship. He touched how slaves were put to death and he expected to join the dead because he felt any hour or day it may be him. Finally he described when he reached Barbados every object was new to him house were built with bricks. He was astonished seeing people on horseback. He thought that Barbados countrymen were magicians.

Who is the author's intended audience? What would people at that time walk away thinking? What would people reading it today think?
I believe the author intended audience was for general public because it was an autobiography and the first –ever slave autobiography some would argue because it was an autobiography about his life and how he succeeded earning him to buy his freedom maybe then the intended audience was dedication to the slaves at the time.
I believe that people at the time would wanted to be like olaudah Equiano a young child brought to slavery earning his freedom which was very hard at the time. It was a story of every slave being brought from Africa shared the same background of every slave.
People reading it today would think how a young child had to go through so much pain and sorrow without his parents to a world of cruelty and slavery but there was no such thing at that
time.
4. Where in the textbook would this document fit? If the document is mentioned, do you think the book does a good job discussing it? If the document is not mentioned, in what way would its inclusion help the text?
I think chapter four there a portrait of Olaudah by unknown English artist with a brief information about voyage to America, him and his achievements. The book does not do a good explanation and discussing about him. I think the book should include a page or two about him because he is a story to be told about slavery and later how he dedicated himself to antislavery cause.
