The vast world of technology is at your finger tips, should you accept it or not? A new chip that can be installed into people and would grant them unlimited online resources is at your disposal, such as the feed implant that is widely used in the novel Feed by M. T. Anderson. In the novel the feed implant is something those who can afford it get when they are infants and gives them access to all the information in the world and be able to chat anyone, play video games, and do your shopping on it. It has taken out the need for most of the technology we use today. I would purchase and install that new chip inside of myself because it has many benefits from it. “Loga came by during the afternoon and she talked to all of us, and she kept saying sorry, “Ohhhhh! Ohhhhh!” in this sorry tone of voice, which was nice, except that then she would pause and we could tell she was m-chatting all the news back to our friends on Earth” (51-52). Throughout the novel the characters are constantly m-chatting each other most of the time when they are in the same vicinity. They find it easier to chat each other on the feed rather than speaking. “Oh. Shit. Yeah. I forgot. No m-chat. Just talking” (55). At this point in the novel Titus has returned home with his feed still off and his father tried to m-chat him something, just as everyone else does with the feed, but Titus has to revert to the old ways and talk rather than m-chatting. Only talking through messages would not be the same as talking because you can not show any emotion when sending messages and sending messages can be perceived wrongly at times.
