Being able to create a space that anyone could enter and feel like they were the most comfortable, happy, and overall enjoying themselves is something that any architect and designer strives to create. Along with this longing for a utopian space comes the realization that something that appeals to everyone is among the most difficult to do. After reading this article it gave me a different perspective that not only is it difficult but that it is dangerous to strive for utopia. As Coleman articulates that “Having learned from the failures of the past, today’s architects imagine themselves as immune to the charms of utopia and so their work,it should follow, has been able to overcome the dangers (and excesses) of utopia that so bedeviled a large part of twentieth-century architecture, and in particular its attempts to remake the city”.
