Summary Of Since You Ve Been Gone

In the book, Since You’ve Been Gone, by Morgan Matson, is a great story about a girl named Emily that loosed a friend but then gained a lot more friends from the experience. Her friend Sloane all of a sudden leaves without any explanation all she leaves behind for her friend Emily is a note with things she has to do on it. Emily must have to complete the list if she ever wants to see her friend again but there are some crazy things on the list she has to do. In this companion book you’ll learn how Emily makes her new friends and what on the list she has to do. We learn the main struggles that happen on the list and how bad or scary some things can be.

The Gas Station

When Frank and Emily are alone in the car their friendship forms a
Number 7 on the list was for Emily to go to a specific location and ask for a person named Mona. She didn’t what to ask for she just knew that she had to ask. Emily drove to the location she had to go to and it was a tiny ice cream shop that was empty when she walked in. The lady at the counter seemed very bored like she had very few customers all day. Then when Emily told her that she didn’t want to buy ice cream the lady just got mad. All of the sudden the ice cream store phone rang the lady answered, “Hey, Mona. No. Not a customer. Just-” (Matson 95) then she got cut off by Emily. Emily just kept on making the lady behind the counter more and more mad because now she wanted to talk to Mona herself. The lady then all of a sudden said her first and last name asking if this was Emily Hughes. Emily was shocked and didn’t know what to do then the lady explained to her that she was late for her interview for the job. Emily was very confused then the lady went on about how she and her friend (Sloane) applied for the job a while ago and their interview was a week ago. The lady pulled out the application form and showed it to Emily and it was Sloanes
