Mockingjay
For my book report, I did a diorama using a simple shoe box. My book is called “Mockingjay”, by Suzanne Collins; it is the third book of “The Hunger Games. This book is about the girl on fire Katniss Everdeen, is in district 13, with her mother and her sister, Prim, along with Gale. Peeta’s family is dead, along with everyone in district 12 who didn’t escape to 13. Peeta is captured by the capital and is being tortured; they inject him with tracker jacker venom that makes him forget everything about Katniss. Katniss goes to a district to see the sick children in the hospital, after she leaves, it gets bombed and everyone dies who is in there. Katniss and Gale shoot the capital planes that bombed the hospital, and the film crew makes a propo that airs everywhere. Some of the soldiers in 13, including Gale, go to the capital to take Peeta and Annie for Finnick. Katniss is nervous and scared to see Peeta. As he woke and saw her he choked her out and tried to kill her. Katniss gets sent to district two as while she’s there she gets shot, and goes back to 13 to heal. Then, she has to train hard if she wants to fight in the war with the capital, and President Snow, who’s only goal is to kill her. They invade the Capitol but they had traps for them so Beete and Finnick both die. Peeta and Gale dress up as Capitol citizens and are trying to come with a plan to get into the mansion. President Snow makes a human shield of children. So District 13 send down parachutes that look like presents, but are actually bombs. The bombs kill children and soldiers; Prim is the doctor, taking care of a sick child, she reaches for a package and is killed by the bomb. The war was finally over, the capitol fails and the districts won. President Coin of 13, suggests that one last hunger games with all of the people who are in power of the capitol. Katniss agrees, only to get Coin off the back so

Mockingjay Part 1, Chapter 1, by Suzanne Collins, is so far telling the story of Katniss Everdeen visiting District 12 and living in District 13. When Katniss arrives at District 12, she starts to feel sorrowful and culpable for the destruction and deaths of so many people she is seeing. Katniss goes into her old home while she was there and finds a white flower that was fresh and she thinks that it’s from President Snow. This flower obtained her attention so much, even though it was just a flower it meant more to her, something like revenge. “...how it’s not just a flower, not even just President Snow’s flower, but a promise of revenge…” (15). Chapter 7: Katniss sleeps with nightmares, and when she drags herself into the shower in the morning, she fumbles with the automatic buttons, spraying herself in hot and cold streams of water. She dresses herself in a practical outfit that’s been laid out for her and ties her hair in a single braid, before heading down to see if there’s food in the dining room. Katniss’s thoughts of Prim and her mother make her homesick, but they also motivate her. She wants to give them comfort by performing well. Katniss also finds it annoying that she and Peeta are being forced to look and act like a team, since they’ll be trying to kill each other in the arena.…

The Hunger Games The Hunger Games follow the story of Katniss Everdeen of district 12 in a post civil war society presumed to be a very futuristic yet abstract society known as Panem. Every year in this society there is a competition amongst the 12 districts called the hunger games, where two tributes; one boy and one girl, from each district are selected in a random drawing, to compete in a fight to the death as a way of punishing the districts for the rebellion that happened long in the past. This fight takes place over several days, or as long as it takes to finish. The winner of these games brings a great deal of pride to their district as well as securing fame and fortune for themselves.…

The first chapter describes the hassles four people have to go through to get to changsha china. Within the train stations and airports, they are trampled by different people clearly looking to make money off the ignorance of foreigners. The narrator is the main character and his motivation for being there is unclear. He did state the other three people were there to teach English. It is assumed that they are all from the states. Many people in the train station want to take advantage of them and prohibit them to get where they want to go with different regulations and clearly made-up rules. Eventually, they do arrive in changsha and get a warm greeting from people in charge of foreign affairs at the university they are working with. They took a eye opening van ride to the university where they were greeted by top notch university administration. For the rest of the chapter the narrator and his friends get acclimated with the university and went out into the city for a small historical tour.…

Ladies and gentleman of the jury I find the book mocking jay by Suzanne Collins in 2010 to be very good at keeping me in suspense and keeping me interested. However, there were areas in which the book was not quite as good such as giving all the details, being too violent, and isn’t good for little kids. The book is a good book and I liked it but I didn’t like it as much as I did the first 2 books and this last book disappointed me. I was expecting some amazing ending to the series of the hunger games but I was let down from the things that happened in the book. Mocking jay is just a sad book that doesn’t even seem humane for the capitol to be doing to all of these different districts.…

Today is the day. The day where the Mockingjay unites with another to continue their lives together. Mother and I walk back to what’s left of the Seam, knowing it is a place worthy of a wedding. I found the dresses Cinna left behind for the forced wedding. Now, with Coin and Snow dead, nothing feels forced. I can hunt freely outside the District Limits put in place by the Peacekeepers. I can give to the poor what I catch, and I can make sure everyone is equal. I chose the least popular dress for the moment because I wanted to resist the Capitol to the maximum I could. I hate them for everything they did. Not just the military officials, everyone there. Taking all our resources and killing us off without a just reason. That’s why everyone needs a guiding light. And to me, Peeta’s light shines the brightest. He’s the reason I’m still alive. Because he risked himself to be captured by the Capitol so I would be safe. And only him will I trust to lead me into happiness.…

    Catching Fire Katniss

    • 890 Words

Suzanne Collin’s Hunger Games series is a literary phenomenon. A three book long story became mainstream and extremely popular in a very quick time and took the literature world by storm. Ask anyone and chances are that they have read the books. In the Catching Fire book, Katniss returns home after winning the hunger game with Peeta. This act of defiance has started the sparks of a rebellion and President Snow forces Katniss to fix it by playing out the love tale between her and Peeta more. Meanwhile she discovers the stories about District 13 and how it’s still existent. Then, the Quarter Quell (25th anniversaries celebrated by special Hunger Games) appears for the 75th anniversary. Of course, this “special” game change is the introduction of competitors all being previous victors. Snow forces Katniss to play this “love story” out more to get the people distracted. Her influence has made her the symbol of the revolution and she’s absolutely needed for the plan of uprising against the Capitol. Without her knowledge, a group of allies is formed and they break out of the arena. Peeta gets captured and when Katniss is flown to District 13…
