The Engaged Spirituality by Howard Thurman is an interesting story. It shows how God can affected the life of the people in a good way. During the reflect and act exercise, I was able to meditate in the thing that make me became a man of God. The man that each day try to improve, and who is very happy and gratefully that God came to my life in the moment that I need him the most. If there is one person that I will always be thankful about is my father. I always have admitted that I am who I am because of him. I loved my father more than anything. I am happy that I was able to express to him how much as I did that I loved him and to be able to express to him of how thankful I was for the way that he raised me. Do not take me wrong; I did not
get everything that I want from my father. He was not home as often as I wanted him to be. In many ways he was a very strict person, so I did not get to many free pass when I did something wrong. He wanted to make sure that my brothers, sister and I could clear understand and learn how to do things right. I moved away from my father at the age of 16 to come to live with my mother in the United States, but my father did not want to come to the US.
When I have the opportunity to look back to everything that I went through, I know the only reason that I did not take a wrong turn in my life, was because of the teaching I received from my father. I was able to return to my country to visit my father when I was 18 years old. After that, I tried to go back every year or at least every other year. I want to show to my father how much I love him and my appreciation for everything that he did. My father passed away on March 1 2015 at the age of 84. I thanked God during that moment to allow me to understand that my father always will be in me.
