BRIEF SYNOPSIS
RAY JOHNSON (30’S) grew up in the ghetto, but vowed to get out. Now a successful businessman and married to an ambitious attorney, JUDY, Ray is living the good life.
Tragedy strikes when Ray’s mother, MARIAN, falls ill. She’s dying and tells Ray that he has a son from his relationship with WANDA. Wanda didn’t want to interfere with his life and never told him.
Ray meets his son, TONY (15), only to learn that Tony hangs out with gangsters like RICARDO. Tony wants nothing to do with Ray. Marian dies, and Ray vows to be there for his son, but his life is shattered when Tony is killed during a robbery. Ray blames Ricardo, but the police can’t do anything …show more content…
Ray decides to sell his business and move back into his mother’s home.
Judy, who is up for a promotion, isn’t happy about the idea, but agrees.
Ray obtains a job as a guidance counselor at the High School, where he befriends, MICHAEL TAYLOR (15). Michael reminds him of Tony. Michael’s mother, ANGIE, is a drug addict, who relies on Michael to get her drugs.
Ray also opens up a youth center, but no one shows up. He realizes he has to get the teens to trust him. Judy feels neglected by Ray and she eventually leaves him.
When Michael and his friends are arrested for shoplifting, the police take the teens to Ray’s youth center instead of pressing charges.
Ray mentors the boys and becomes close to Michael. Angie pressures Michael into getting her more drugs. Michael begins to work with Ricardo to get more money and he robs drug addicts. Ray becomes concerned and tries to talk to Angie, but she wants nothing to do with Ray. Instead, Angie schemes a plan to get money out of
