This is powerful because color represented the paradise and peace which took place in New York in 1968. This was done to showcase the time when the American dream and liberty prospered, contrary to the sadness created by the Nazis, by incorporating the Nazi flag on the previous page. On page 4, it can be observed how Lisa's mom is teaching her the Jewish version of the Bible in order to traditionalize her. This is significant due to the fact that while Lisa was in Hungary, she was devoted to Judaism and its principles. From page 83 to 84, the author incorporates a flashforward by applying a change in coloration. Here with her American husband, presumably of Christian faith, she realizes that she should teach her child Christian values, which she didn't grow up
