find the food and variety I want. Some people would never have time to hunt, working multiple jobs and such, and sometimes only get a little time to enjoy their break. Jared Diamond would be the one to argue that so-and-so wouldn’t have to work multiple jobs in the first place if we never moved on to agriculture. That would be like saying to Albert Einstein “You can wait on your breakthroughs about the universe, right know we need to feed our families.” This is one reason I dislike Jared Diamonds thoughts. Some great things came out of people who never had to hunt and gather. Even now, as we speak, people are doing things for their family with not much of a worry to how well they are fed. This is how we have improved in our life, and we should never take a step backwards. In the article, he talks about the Kalahari Bushmen and how much free time they have and they have plenty of food to eat. While the Kalahari Bushmen hunt, gather, eat, play and sleep, there are people all around the world who are trying to make lives better for everyone. Jared does make one good point though. Even if good things come out of his idea, it may be too late. We can’t make every family hunt and gather now. We would have way too many mouths to feed. Just by knowing that, it makes his article pointless. His idea is not a great idea. The idea that we have to go hunt and gather would bring us back to survival and put us into a stage of primitive style living. Thanks to agriculture, most of us can enjoy life more, and not have to worry about getting food from the woods. Even though we may have stronger bodies and a more healthy living, it’s hard to even think about spending time to go back to a primitive state. Just like his article said, “What neo-Luddite among us would trade his life for that of a medieval peasant, a caveman, or an ape?”
