In this specific riot, it was a huge number of white sailors and marines that were trespassing into the Mexican-American barrios, known as neighborhoods, and assaulting Mexicans in plain view for everyone to see. The Los Angeles police were present to witness all of the beatings but did nothing, simply just watch while countless numbers of innocent Mexican-Americans were being brutally assaulted without having done anything to receive violent behavior from the whites. Human beings simply out enjoying their day without doing anything wrong were being punished and assaulted by the white invaders. Innocent people crying for help from lawenforcement officials who simply heard the cries for help and turned the other way. It makes me furious to hear such brutal and inhumane behavior took place. The help was there, but the help simply enjoyed watching the suffering that was being inflicted on these innocent people. Innocent children were being beaten to death, women, elderly people, men, teenagers all suffered from the cold hearted brutality that took place for that endless week of 1943. Finally when the Mexican-Americans decided it was time to make a stand and fight back fire with fire. The result was eight Mexican-Americans injured, out of 43 arrested, all were of Mexican-American descent. Whites were simply untouchable, and categorized as a high class ethnic group by the law. All other ethnic groups ran a higher chance of getting arrested first compared to the chances a white individual has to get detained. This infuriates me madly knowing that thepolice which were “To Protect and Serve” simply just turned the opposite way when the cry for help camefrom an individual other than that of a white. Although when a white would get attacked they were alwaysthere to protect them from any
