Relative to women who either had had an abortion or had not become pregnant by age 21, those who had been pregnant but not sought an abortion tended to come from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds (Table 2, page 10). They had significantly lower intelligence scores and levels of educational achievement in childhood, and were significantly more likely to leave school without educational qualifications. Through their study, the researchers have found women who come from non-ideal backgrounds or backgrounds where the woman may not have been provided for in the best conditions, the woman is more likely to not finish school compared to women who come from “stable” home environments. This proves the fact that the different conditions the women come from can change the likelihood of abortions. Which may lead to women to be led to believe abortion is the only option that will not have negative effects while it is quite the opposite. Making decisions on whether or not to have an abortion based on these situations leads to even more psychological issues for the mother.
