Originally, my column, “Inside View,” began as a trial to integrate myself into the writing community. However, due to its popularity, I now work as an unpaid intern as a writer for the Mukwonago Chief. My job is to get inside the school’s boundaries and student’s opinions to accurately let the public know what it is like to be at Mukwonago High School from a student’s point of view. With this experience, I would be able to extend my talents and relationships that I have established as a journalist further in order to help better Mukwonago as a whole. My written skills allow me to effectively write up any…

Imagine for a moment what it would be like to live in a community where you know everyone who lives there, not just a passing hello in the street to a fellow neighbor, but really know who they were. Where are the communities in which our parents and grandparents lived, in neighborhoods where everyone knew each other, safety was not an issue, children on the block played together, and adults socialized over dinner? Our twenty-first century neighborhoods can be alienating and isolating. Some people long for the communities of times gone by, so much that there is a minor yet stirring movement to utilize the values of the more neighbor friendly communities of the early twentieth century. One such effort to create a friendlier, more secure child and even multi-generational supportive environment is cohousing.…

I believe the poem the listening post by John kent is about a man who has lost all emotion, and is now numb to his surroundings- " cold bones, numbed brain". The writing doesn't contain any similies but I think it has more of an effect being said straight out. In the poem he is writing of a man who blackened sockets now take the place of where hopeful eyes used to lay. His fingers are "frozen and swell through the gloves, cradeled weapon held with love". His hands are cold and tired from the weather and holding that weapon just in case is all he knows, its like a second nature to him and he has grown bored with the repetition.. He tries to hold onto the happy memories but they are becoming nothing more but dull faded pictures in the back of his mind., while e wonders " will it ever end' will there ever be peace and no violence again.? The way its written brings a depressing mood to it yet still hopeful?…

War can often occur with diminutive warning and result in vast destruction and excessive mortality. There are a variety causes for wars such as greed, power, and to improve the standard of living. Another cause of war is to protect the boundary of the country. In some countries such as Korea and Vietnam these boundaries define the different political views of the territories. Korea and Vietnam were divided between the Communist North and the Democratic South. This division of the countries led to disputes and then war. The causes of the Korean War were very similar to the Vietnam War with their roots in the Truman Doctrine and the Domino Theory, and events led to the War on Terrorism, however they did have differences and varying perspectives…
