Supernatural and Paranormal Every day we wake up and go on with our regular life without knowing that we are surrounded by things that might exist, or maybe they aren't meant to be spoken of; supernatural and paranormal is two of them. It's been misjudged by many that supernatural and paranormal activities are the same thing, but they are not the same. Paranormal and supernatural in general are meant to be different. Confidently they are phenomena that occur beyond natural explanation, but they have there differences which lay in various fields of unnatural activities. Its even mistaken by the largest social networking in the world that supernatural and paranormal are synonym of each other. When the word supernatural is googled, its synonym is paranormal, which is a totally different word. They do have things in common like they both are beyond nature's explanation but that doesn't have to be an reason for it to be an synonym. Supernatural, the word itself states what lies within. It defines beyond what is natural, unexplainable by natural law or phenomena (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100323100559AARMzr7). Many often think about Sam and Dean Winchester, when the word supernatural crosses our mind. They are brothers, fictional characters from a TV show called supernatural. They Hunt ghosts, kill demons and other supernatural 'creatures' they find across the country. Supernatural can be define as more of a ghost thing, which is practically odd in real life, because surely its not an everyday thing when people say, " I hunt a ghost down. Ahh . . . He was a one tough mother".
There are lots of unknown, yet existing creatures out there that are being faced everyday by people: balaur, cyclopes, cambion, demon, devil, doppelganger, dragon, griffin, gargoyle, ghost, ghoul, hippogriff, incubus, jinn, leprechaun, mermaid, merman, manticore, mummy, nephilim, pegasus, puca, raven mocker, rakshasha,

To clarify what's out there to be investigated, Southall begins the handbook in earnest by defining the terms, since ghosts, spirits and poltergeists are not interchangeable and represent quite different phenomena.Ghosts and apparitions are a kind a recording on the environment - a residual energy that can come from a person, animal or even an inanimate object. We can experience these lingering energies by sight, sound, smell and touch. Spirits are what people most often think of as "ghosts." A spirit is the "actual sentient presence, or soul, of an individual or individuals who have remained in the material world after his or her physical body has died." ABSTRACT: In this lab, we are using a BioRad protein assay dye to determine the concentration of protein in our chicken. The dye binds to the amino acid residues, which allow us to find the concentration of protein (BioRad Protein Assay for Tissues). Our hypothesis was the longer chicken is cooked the less protein is available. To test our hypothesis, we made samples using our chicken and distilled water to determine how much protein was in the chicken. We found that our data supported our hypothesis; it showed that the longer our chicken was cooked the less protein that was in the chicken. As the chicken is cooked longer, the protein is denatured by the heat.…

The Supernatural, a manifestation attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding or the laws of nature (Literary Jewels), examples of that would be ghosts, angels, and gigantic human sized bugs. The story containing supernatural elements may have a religious purpose, such the role of angels and demons in Islam, Judaism and Christianity; or the supernatural elements may portray notions about reality such as issues in social justice, discrimination, or alienation and the sense of belonging. Of course, there are many ways to incorporate supernatural elements in novels and movies, but we will focus on two works that describe the issues and factors of alienation and belonging. Franz Kafka and Bernard Malamud are two talented authors whom incorporated the notion of supernatural elements in their stories. In The Metamorphosis and Angel Levine, both main characters were facing unusually bad luck throughout the story; Angel Levine's Manischwitz was losing everything from his wealth to his health and family. Gregor Samsa of The Metamorphosis could not get out of bed because of his armor-like back and many little legs; he was also on the verge of losing everything he had. Even though they may be facing a series of unfortunate events, they handled their situations very differently, when comparing both characters, one may argue that Gregor, who seemed to be calm and collected at the fact that he was transformed to an insect in compared to Manischwitz, who was very stressed, was the stronger of the two; but no matter who carried more discipline and internal strength, they were both threatened to lose a basic human need, the sense of belonging. The main reason one character survives in the end while the other parish is idea of alienation, being alone in the world while nobody acknowledges your existence.…

When was the last time you asked someone to check for a creature living under your bed? To a 5 year old, this is a true monster. Do you remember the infuriating feeling you felt upon hearing about a terrorist’s appalling crimes? Some might call a terrorist, a real monster. Who knows what truly a monster is? In the end we tend to follow the statement “to each, his own”. We all have our own opinions based on our own maturity, values, ideas, and worldly experience. Each connotation of the word “monster” however, traces back to the same basic principles that are acknowledged by the masses. The dictionary, combining the separate meanings of the word into one accepted and referred to, states that a monster is any human or animal so grotesquely deviating from normal shape, behavior or character or a person who excites horror by wickedness or cruelty. In today’s society, the average person and the majority of the population’s way of thinking would find the creature to be the real monster of Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein. The evidence and support shows that the creature fits the definition of monster on all literal and objective levels.…

    Electoral College

The founding fathers established it in the Constitution as a compromise between election of the President by a vote in Congress and election of the President by a popular vote of qualified citizens. The Electoral College process consists of the selection of the electors, the meeting of the electors where they vote for President and Vice President, and the counting of the electoral votes by Congress. The Electoral College consists of 538 electors. A majority of 270 electoral votes is required to elect the President. Your state’s entitled allotment of electors equals the number of members in its Congressional delegation: one for each member in the House of Representatives plus two for your Senators. There have been four presidents to win the presidency without actually winning the popular vote of the nation. The most recent incident of this was the 2000 election of President George W. Bush, and this sparked a new interest in changing the system. There are two states, Nebraska and Maine that currently use their electoral votes a little differently than the other 48 states. They allot two electoral votes to the statewide winner and the rest according to the winner in each congressional district. This is one change to the system that is currently being presented by legislators in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Another possible change is the “Agreement Among the States to Elect the President by National Popular Vote”, or the NPV compact. It would require electors to vote for the candidate who wins the most votes nationwide. An issue with this change is that the president would most likely be elected from votes of more populated areas like big cities that have similar beliefs and the smaller states and rural areas voices’ would be lost due to them being so spread out. One major concern for the NPV compact is that it could lead to corruption of the voting process by candidates being blackmailed with the threat of losing votes if the blackmailer’s demands weren’t met. Also…

    On Monsters

Many people perceive monsters as anything grotesque or not looking like the norm. In the book On Monsters, written by Asma, he mentions an array of monsters. He states, “One aspect of the monster concept seems to be the breakdown of intelligibility. An action or a person or a thing is monstrous when it can’t be processed by our rationality, and also when we cannot readily relate to the emotional range involved” (Asma 10). Because our perception is blinded by appearance, we fail to see the truth behind a monster –their actions. Although people define a monster by their appearance, it’s their actions that give them their identity.…
