Effectiveness
The questions in the survey had to be relevant to my topic in order for it to be effective for my research. A fairly large number and a rage of people had to be surveyed to get variety of opinions, not just targeted at athletes. I believe the survey was effective …show more content…
I was lucky to come across this particular article as it was getting reported the same time I began my research on the topic. The language used in the article was casual as a journalist wrote it so that it was easier for the audience to understand. An internet search of the incident was done to cross reference the article to see if the source was reliable.
Capabilities
I have used a range of literacy capability skills while analysing the newspaper article. I had to relate the article to my own topic, as it was not based on the medical side of performance enhancing drugs but the social issues involving the drugs instead. A Google search of the drugs that were involved was done to understand how they affected the body. The ethical understanding capability was utilised to make sure that the journalist who wrote the articles were referenced and a background search of Maria Sharapova was done to give a insight of who she was and an insight of the incident.
Interviews
Effectiveness
The interview that was conducted was effective as I got to ask questions that were directly related to my topic. I was able to organise an interview with an amateur tennis player and my family doctor, which gave a spectrum of opinions as one interviewee was an athlete and the other was a doctor.
