Why do certain humans find joy in the murder and torture of others? This has always been a tough question to nail down, it’s a matter of psychology. Nazis believed in a fully Aryan race, that being a race of people with blonde hair, blue eyes, and white skin. With this in mind, it may not be crazy to assume that with the elimination of the Jewish race the Nazis may have felt a sense of progress, like something good was being achieved (though it was the opposite). But this really doesn’t explain the Nazis lack of mercy towards the Jewish race. In the book “Night” Ellie explains that people were left to slowly starve or dehydrate to death, why did they keep them for that long? It falls into power, a need that many humans strive for. The need for power is what drove Hitler and the Nazis to kill and torture so many, the end goal was to have complete world domination. When the Nazis would starve someone to death, it gave them a feeling of control, like they could do anything to this person and nothing would come of it.
