In the article “Susan B. Anthony Dares to Vote”it shows perseverance when it says “Susan B. Anthony “the leader of …show more content…
the women’s rights movement in the united states.” This shows perseverance therefore it’s showing that she won’t give the fight the to give women rights. Another piece of evidence is “if she could convince the jury she had a right in U.S. constitution to vote, she would be found not guilty.” This shows perseverance because it’s showing that she won’t give up the fight the to give women rights.
In the play “The Watson’s go to birmingham” it shows perseverance when it states “We decided to march for justice.”This is showing perseverance because it showing that by saying we will fight for our rights.
Another way this play is showing perseverance is when Byron says “I’ll march with you” When Byron is saying this he wants to fight for rights as well and will not stop until black have equal rights. Since this is the time period where black people were treated unfairly.
The contrast of these passages is the action of the characters. Since in the article “Susan B. Anthony dares to vote” she gets set to trial and almost to prison pretty much because of her sex when she tried to vote. In the play “The Watson’s go to Birmingham” black churches are getting bombed and whites are doing it strictly because of their race. This shows these texts resemble perseverance in different ways.
As one can see the theme of these passages is perseverance. A way the texts show it differently is in the article Susan gets arrested for voting. In the play black churches are getting bombed. The article showed this theme more because Susan is fighting for all woman’s rights Colored and white people, while the other they were fighting for just black people’s rights, but it isn’t showed
much.
