Sustainability has many definitions and it depend on how the person defines it. To me, sustainability is the action of maintaining something so it can live for longer periods or it can keep on exists. For example, fossil fuels are non-renewable or in other words unsustainable sources of energy, so we have to take actions in order to maintain this energy source for future uses since it’s a finite resource, or else it will fade away. Something can be unsustainable if it causes problems for society or human suffering. To clarify more, unsustainability is a practice or action that generates problems that will eventually requires it to be stopped, such as environmental pollution. The term sustainability can be applied to most of the things in our lives, from economic and social issues to environmental issues and many more.
Sustainability should include and be driven by many things, such as awareness, appreciation, gratefulness, innovation, and many more. Above all, it requires that we take action and be action oriented toward anything that is unsustainable. On the other hand, sustainability should not include selfishness, laziness, greed, and much more. Nothing lasts forever, so we have to work hard in order to achieve sustainability, which is the outcome of careful planning and implementation.
There isn’t one clear way or method to measure sustainability since it’s intangible, hard to measure, and the impact resulted for not being sustainable is not felt or shown immediately. Furthermore, it’s difficult to know if something is sustainable, going to be, or not, but there are indicators
