Corny Hills Persuasive Speech
Imagine living in a world where there is ever-changing climates and sinking economies. A world where there is constant drought, few forests and natural areas. A world where our favourite animals extinct and the rising costs of food, water and energy. This all seems very frightening, but we need to remember that we have the ability to curb this problem and bounce back Earth to its glory days.
Good morning class, today I’m going to do a speech on sustainability. Today I will cover what sustainable cities look like, how Ferny Hills is sustainable, how Ferny Hills is managed, how Ferny Hills can plan for a liveable future and what I can do to be sustainable.
We often hear about how we need to be sustainable in order for our world to thrive in the future, but what does this actually mean? According to the BusinessDictionary, sustainability is the maintenance of the factors and practices that contribute to the quality of environment on a long-term basis. Ultimately, sustainability is about improving qualities of life while protecting the environment.

There are endless ways I could be more sustainable. The obvious would be to install solar panels and water tanks but everybody has already heard of that, so I thought up of some that not many people have thought of. Firstly, I can be more sustainable by taking four minute showers. This will save about 9.5 litres per minute. In addition to this, you also save the energy required to heat that water to shower temperature. Another way I can be sustainable is turning off the lights after leaving a room. Electric lights left on needlessly waste energy and, because I don’t have solar panels, this is burning fossil fuels that pollute the air. Finally I will ride my bike or walk on the bike paths to places close to me such as my dance school. This will ease traffic congestion, keep me healthy and reduce air pollution caused by car

Sustainability is the capacity to endure. In ecology the word describes how biological systems remain diverse and productive over time. For humans it is the potential for long-term maintenance of well-being, which in turn depends on the maintenance of the natural world and natural resources. As the earth’s human population has increased, natural ecosystems have declined and changes in the balance of natural cycles have had a negative impact on both humans and other living systems.…

Imagine that you trained all your life for that special moment of playing in your first NHL game. At the beginning of your first shift in the game suddenly another player’s stick comes up and strikes you in the eye. This incident ends your career. This could have been prevented if you wore a visor. I think visors should be mandatory in the NHL in order to improve a player’s safety. Statistics have proven players who wear visors in the NHL play less aggressive. There are many incidents involving sticks and pucks going into player’s faces. A recent incident occurred between Philadelphia’s Chris Pronger and Toronto’s Mikhail Grabovski. Furthermore, two years ago a former NHL player Brad May, Gave a speech supporting the use of visors.…
