Swami Vivekananda on Youth
Swami Vivekananda Quotes

* A few heart-whole, sincere, and energetic men and women can do more in a year than a mob in a century.

* Where are the men? That is the question. Young men of Madras, my hope is in you. Will you respond to the call of your nation? Each one of you has a glorious future if you dare believe me. Have a tremendous faith in yourselves, like the faith I had when I was a child, and which I am working out now. Have that faith, each one of you, in yourself — that eternal power is lodged in every soul — and you will revive the whole of India. Ay, we will then go to every country under the sun, and our ideas will before long be a component of the many forces that are working to make up every nation in the world. We must enter into the life of every race in India and abroad; shall have to work to bring this about. Now for that, I want young men.

* "It is the young, the strong, and healthy, of sharp intellect that will reach the Lord", say the Vedas. This is the time to decide your future — while you possess the energy of youth, not when you are worn out and jaded, but in the freshness and vigour of youth. Work — this is the time; for the freshest, the untouched, and unsmelled flowers alone are to be laid at the feet of the Lord, and such He receives. Rouse yourselves, therefore, or life is short. There are greater works to be done than aspiring to become lawyers and picking quarrels and such things. A far greater work is this sacrifice of yourselves for the benefit of your race, for the welfare of humanity. Life is short, but the soul is immortal and eternal, and one thing being certain, death, let us therefore take up a great ideal and give up our whole life to it.

* Uttishtata Jagrata Prapya Varan Nibhodata— Arise, awake and stop not till the desired end is reached. Young men of Calcutta, arise, awake, for the time is propitious. Already everything is opening out before us. Be bold and fear not. It is only in our

Our values and morals remain timeless as they form the basis of our interaction with each other and are instilled as part of our humanity defining us as beings. The Shakespearean play, “King Richard III” and its hybrid doco-drama appropriation, “looking for Richard’ directed by Al Pacino, reveal inherent values of power in relation to our morality and justice. As Shakespeare focuses on the human psyche and the role of god’s Devine retribution in the Elizabethan era, Pacino on the other hand emphasizes the American context to allow audiences to re-evaluate the significance of the political and social values present in KRIII, thus enriching our understanding of the original text.…

“The Devil and Tom Walker “, a short story by washington Irving, has a precarious and melancholy mood. Tom is a very greedy man who lives in a run down house with his wife in a swamp. They both don’t care much about others that is why it is easy for the devil to make his deals with them. Only caring for herself gets the wife killed, when she thinks she can talk to the devil in a rude tone. Tom on the other hand got off with a deal that made him the devils loan shark for his town. The setting is painted in such a way that it becomes dark and creepy fast, especially when talking about Tom’s first house. “They lived in a forlorn looking house that stood alone, and had an air of starvation”(Irving 154). Tom and his wife both live in what to most…

The most important lesson which Everyman provides concerns the earthy pleasures and goods we relish. While we enjoy the company of our kindred and fellowship and all that is material and mortal, at the hour of our reckoning all that was earth-bound remains behind us and does not matter in front the face of God. The greatness of the gold and enjoyment of our fellowships have no value once we leave our mortal life.…

GANDHIJI’S EARLY CAREER When Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi called for a nation- wide Satyagraha against the Rowlatt Act in March 1919, his first attempt at leading an all India struggle, he was already in his fiftieth year. To understand the man who was about to take over the reins of the Indian National Movement and guide its destinies through its most climactic years, it is necessary to begin his story at least twenty five years earlier, in 1893, when as a twenty-four old barrier, he began the struggle of Indians against racial discrimination in South Africa. The story of Gandhiji in South Africa is a long one and we present it here in its briefest outline only to highlight the wide experience that Gandhiji had undergone before he came back to India.…
