When reflecting on personal influences in my life, no one has had a greater impact than my father. He was and continues to be a positive role model as a father, a husband, a grandfather, a devout Christian, a carpenter and an artist.…
6. At breakfast, Carla's Dad announced a family trip to visit his mother. At lunch, Mary invited Carla on a shopping trip and Jeff invited Carla to join him for a picnic lunch. Then Carla realized that all the invitations were for the same day and she would have to make a choice. Which…
Growing up with 3 brothers and I being the only girl was great for me. I was always daddy’s little girl and really enjoyed by childhood. My dad was the world to me and I always dreamed about being a mother some day and giving my baby the same love and attention that my dad would give me. I was always surrounded my love and attention and my wish was my command. My daddy always spoiled me, but at the same time he would instill in me the importance of respecting and loving everything and everyone. He always told me learning to respect and also earning the respect of people was very important because it would keep me mindful and make me remember to show proper appreciation towards others and towards things. He also felt that by having my heart open to love it would make me a better person and at the same time it would lead me to a…
Edith Cowan was an Australian parliament member and social activist. Edith contributed a lot of her life towards social issues and injustice in the legal system, her concern with these issues helped her achieve many memorable movements such as being Australia's first female parliamentarian, a innovator for children's rights as she was one of Western Australia's first female magistrates in the children's Court, she was also an innovator for women's rights, and was the first one to introduce the Women's Legal Status Bill, which cleared the way for women to be involved in high level professions, such as law or medicine.…
“Everything I have done in my life has been to provide for my children.” That’s what you’ll hear my dad say if you ask him about anything he’s accomplished in his life. He is a very proud and hardworking man. Even now, at 60 years old, he works harder than most 20-year-olds do. As a father he has always told us, “Nothing is handed to you; everything you have must be earned.”…
Hero- a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. In modern day society an epic hero is a larger than life person that has outstanding abilities and has some kind of antagonistic foe that that he/she has to battle with. Sadly the character Odysseus from Homer's Odyssey would not fit the example of a modern day epic hero because he’s conceded, non forgiving and he cares about himself over the lives of his crewmates.…
The stimuli for my devised piece is ‘Machinal’ written by American playwright and journalist Sophie Treadwell and premiered on Broadway in 1928. Treadwell wrote the play based on the true events that unravelled around New Yorker Ruth Snyder who killed her husband in her unhappy marriage and was executed by electric chair; Ruth was the first woman to be executed by electric chair since 1899 which provoked the significance of her story. Treadwell explores the themes of isolation, oppression and female objectification all of which I took on board and intend to include in my devised piece.…
Life wasn’t always easy growing up in a poor family fortunately, I am descended from hard working, motivated parents. Often times people take things for granted because they have everything they want but I could only obtain things we could afford. As I was growing up I saw the struggles my parents went through so when they gave me advice I knew exactly what they meant. They always want to give me everything and a significant…
Moving away from home and being in college, I look back on my years at home with a little bit of sadness and tad bit of regret. I realize that I took my father for granted. When I would complain about how much homework a teacher had given me, I never once heard him complain about staying late after work. When I would complain about not having the latest outfit, I never once heard him complain about…
A father’s advice is something that can’t be bought only taught to the youth through experience. I would always get upbraided for wanting to sit around the house and wait for something to come my way instead of working for it. My father would always kick me and brothers out of the house for the day during the summer, this was to get us to go do something with our friends and to get fresh air. I was starting to get the reasons behind his actions, he was attempting to get us to see that there is more to life than sitting inside playing video games and watching tv. Everyday I would be the first one out of the house to play basketball with my friends and to see what life had in stored for me. My father is what helped me get my head straight and assisted me in finding what I wanted to do in life. Even though dads can be strict they have a point and a reason behind everything, even yelling at you for your…
ADMIRATION There are many people that I admire, but none more than my father. Despite the many hardships he survived, my father remains a positive ...…
Growing up in a small family, I witnessed the way my father took an active role in his family. He was the bread-winner of his family, yet he never neglected us. He is a loving father. He cares a lot about his daughters. My dad will do anything for his children. Since I could remember to this present moment, he was always been someone whom I can count on to help me in my time of need. He taught me how to be a better person by respecting myself, respecting others, and being a woman on integrity. He has been a good example for me by instilling strong family bonds; because of him I turn out to be a great mom to my children and a good wife to my husband.…
My dad instills the importance of education and motivates me to try my hardest. My dad symbolizes more than just a man who has brought me into this world; he has become an emotion or energy that I can feel inside of me always. He is the constant reminder of my duty to uphold the morals of my family, and he is the motivation for accomplishment in my life. He would give me rewards or tokens for great accomplishments, and praise me for motivation. If I did poorly in something, he would motivate me, and scold me at the same time, so that I can do better. Inspired by my father, I have worked diligently toward my own goal even when strongly challenged. During the challenging times I cannot help but recall my father's stories of his own hardships as he worked towards a better future. Therefore, encourage by my dad, I study really hard and put extra effort in the work I do at school.…
When people are asked about the question who is the one they admire most, the answers could not be more different. Indeed, everyone has his/her hero on heart. And I also have mine: he is my father. There are various reasons why he is the person I admire the most; he gave me life, watched me grow up and helped me during my adolescent years. He is also my best friend.…
My father is a sample of life for us, a teacher wise and fair, an open hand at the time needed, a role model, a loving smile, a guide to accurate, an unconditional friend, and an inspiration for life. He is a patient man, a spectacular man that made us what we are today. He is a human irreplaceable. Although my father just finished the elementary school, he is very smart. He has always…
