In Swiss Family Robinson the family heavily relies on God to guide them on their path of survival and to help them be rescued. Also, to keep his family faithful, Father always said “once we get off of the island..” In Shipwreck Island the family has faith in being rescued and their only focus is to survive and to get off the island. Just to make sure his family doesn’t lose faith in themselves or the situation, John keeps planning ways to stay in sight of a ship and he talks about how someone will see them from the beach. I think that it’s great that in both books, the father and John are staying positive. It’s never a bad thing to keep a plan engaged just in case there’s a chance to get off of the island. It reminds me of my dad because he is severely afraid of storms and makes sure there’s a chance to live, but he stays positive. Any time there is even the slightest chance there will be a severe thunderstorm, even a tornado, he suggests a safety plan of what to do before, during, and after it’s over.
