Cover Girl Products Cover Girl has been around for more than 55 years now. The company considers itself as an advocate for women’s individual beauty reaching out to middle-class women ranging from ages 18-34. When one hears the words “Easy, breezy, beautiful”, he or she automatically thinks of the makeup brand Cover Girl. The company has coined the phrase and made it a household known phrase associated with their brand. Cover Girl’s strength lies in their promotion through big celebrities. Cover Girl has many different commercials with celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres, Sofia Vergara and Queen Latifah. They use the ideology that women have to look young and beautiful or else they will be unappealing. Cover Girl advertisements highlight the …show more content…
They do not target any one kind of woman, or age group, but rather aim to diversify their appeal and target different audiences to get the most customers. For example, Cover Girl uses Ellen DeGeneres for the less feminine women and Sofia Vergara for the more feminine women and to appeal to the Latin culture. Taylor Swift is used to appeal to the younger audience, whereas, Drew Barrymore is used to appeal to the more edgy audience and Queen Latifah, a full figured woman, is used to appeal to the more colored and curvaceous women. The older celebrities appeal to older women while the younger celebrities appeal to the younger women. Another thing about all of these unique ladies is that they all have different skin colors. This holds paramount importance in todays society as there are many multicultural people. In order for women to delve into and embrace who they truly are, it is vital for them to not feel like they need to conform to any standard.
