Symbolic Interactionism

Symbolic interactionism is society being viewed as composed of symbols that people use to establish meaning, develop their views of the world, and communicate with one another. In our social lives we use symbols every day, without symbols we would not have the relationships we have with our family and friends. Another example of how we use symbols is whenever we are in our cars. The traffic light was created to help the flow of traffic and to keep cars from colliding with each other. The color green on the traffic light means go, the color red on the traffic light means stop, and the color yellow means to slow down because the light is about to turn red. The traffic light is very important symbol that most people used every day to communicate.
