From the functionalist theory, crime results from what the society makes us believe and think such as class inequality where persons are from different backgrounds. The symbolic interactionist theory states that crime is learned through interaction with others and the conflict theory states that if you are from a low class, poverty drives a person into criminal activity as a way of survival.
