Symbols In The Movie Frauds
Characters: In the movie Frauds there are a few characters who play major roles. Jonathan Wheats portrayed by Hugo Weaving, plans a scam to claim insurance money for things that were not actual destroyed or stolen. He his married to Beth Wheats and is a very smart person but becomes paranoid very easily. Furthermore, Beth Wheats played by Josephine Byrnes, married to Jonathan, is a teacher and is unaware of Jonathans plans. Beth becomes annoyed and frustrated by the actions of Roland, due to her lack of knowledge. In addition, Michael Allen portrayed by Peter Mochrie, is the best friend of Jonathan Wheats he helps him with his scam, and ends up getting murdered by Beth. When Roland Copping had figured out the Jonathan and Beth were frauds he used the putty to represent his knowledge. The Putty represented Roland’s findings because, Jonathan had used the putty to secure the silverware in the paper mache model.
Toy Soldiers: In addition, another symbol that was used throughout the movie was the toy soldiers. The toy soldiers were a symbol of hiding as well as fraud. This represents this because Jonathan and Michael had used the toy soldiers, to plan their false robbery which was fraud. Alongside, that the toy soldiers were placed on a paper mache model that represented land, which contained the silverware, which was the hiding spot.
Dice: Another, symbol that was represented throughout the movie was the dice. The dice represented Roland along with his fate. Whenever the dice were in sight it was known that it was Roland who was up to something. Roland used the set of dice to make decisions, and plan what he should do next.
