Sztuka jako komunikat o interpretacji sztuki w kontekście uwarunkowań kulturowych

Pomysł pojawił się podczas dyskusji, która miała miejsce podczas mojej podróży do Izraela. Bardzo popularny wówczas film izraelskiego reżysera Walc z Bashirem (Vals im Bashir 2008) pretendował do Nagrody Akademii Filmowej i budził wiele emocji. Nie chciałabym jednak skupiać się na oczywistej kwestii krytyki izraelskiego rządu i wydarzeń z Libanu w 1982 r. Moja uwagę zwróciła natomiast forma filmu, która wywołała długą dyskusję wśród moich przyjaciół. Momentem spornym okazało się samo zakończenie historii, gdzie autorzy wykorzystali autentyczne zdjęcia wojenne. Ranni cywile czy osierocone dzieci to obrazy, które widzimy dosyć często w codziennych wiadomościach, jednak zastosowanie tego rodzaju zdjęć w jednym obrazie filmowym z animacją, tworzy gigantyczny kontrast. Zestawienie to wydało mi się genialne, podobnie jak moim przyjaciołom z Europy. Ku naszemu zaskoczeniu młodzi Żydzi nie tylko odczytali zabieg jako nieudany czy zbyt dosłowny, niektórzy uznali go za kiczowaty czy niesmaczny i mówli o tym, z wyraźną niechęcią. Co ciekawe, opinie za i przeciw dzieliły studentów europejskich i mieszkańców Izraela. Nie było wyjątków. Celowo przez następne tygodnie prowadziłam własne małe badania, pytając o końcówkę filmu Walc z Bashirem. Odpowiedzi nie wniosły nic nowego. Na dodatek zarówno dla Europy jak i dla Izraela interpretacja konrtastu pomiędzy autentycznymi zdjęciami a animacją były tak oczywiste, że żadne nie potrafiło zrozumieć drugiej strony. W tym czasie zaczęła kiełkować myśl o projekcie, który mógłby połączyć różnice, stworzyć pewien rodzaj komunikacji dla odmienności w myśleniu, odczytywaniu informacji, czy nawet odczuwaniu. Wiemy przecież, że rozpoznajemy to, co już znamy, co jest nam bliskie, że odbiór obrazu uwarunkowany jest tym, co widzieliśmy. Mają na nas wpływ symbole, którymi bombardowani jesteśmy od najmłodszych lat. W jaki sposób zatem stworzyć system komunikacji,

    Feliks Skrzynecki, composed by Peter Skrzynecki, is an affectionate, yet puzzled poem of the persona’s father, as seen through the eyes of the composer. The first stanza beings with the line, ‘My gentle father’ showing the reader that not only does this show some sort of affection and admiration the composer had for his father, but also some detachment. In the verse, it states the father’s devotion to his tasks stems from his sense of belonging to his garden; ‘Loved his garden like an only child’.     1. Feliks Skrzynecki is a poem about the authors (Peter Skrzyneckis’) stepfather. The poem demonstrates the strong feeling of belonging Peter feels with his family. However it also expresses the detachment Peter feels from his cultural heritage. This is shown in the lines ‘Remnants of a language I inherited unknowingly’. The use of first person (‘I’) through out the poem is used to show the perception that Peter has of his father, and how he always compares himself to his father. In stanza 3 we get the sense that Peter does not feel as if he belongs with his father and his fathers’ friends, ‘That formal address I never got used to’. The entire poem reveals a sense of regret from Peter, perhaps for not having to deal with the war and other difficulties like his father, as well as regret of losing his Polish heritage.…

    The historical document that I interpreted was the “Russkaya Pravda”. It can be translated as “Russian Truth” or “Russian Justice” (Boyko, 2011). This early code of law of Kievan Rus was considered truthful and fair at the time. It also seems to be straight forward and fair when compared to some of the other codes of law within the same general time period. The code was discovered by the historian Vasily Tatishchev in one of the Novgorod chronicles in the 18th century (Boyko, 2011). The first annotated edition of the code was published thirty years later. More than 110 other copies dating from the 13th to 18th centuries have been discovered since then (Boyko, 2011). The oldest is the Short Edition (Kratkaya), and is also the version that I used for interpretation. The Vast Edition (Prostrannaya) is the most comprehensive. Finally, the most controversial is the Abridged Version (Sokrashchennaya). I tried to find out why it was controversial, but a lack of information available prevented me. It would suffice to say that no matter if one held more sway than others, the document reflects what was most important to people of that age, defines common crimes of the time period, respective punishments to fit those crimes, the establishment of proof of some of these crimes.…
