When I think of a tangerine, I think of a smaller orange. Round, small, and orange. To me it’s not the most interesting fruit, maybe that’s why nothing rhymes with orange because all the other words realized that oranges aren’t fun so they decided not to invite it to the rhyming party. As I look at my tangerine, I’m noticing that it’s not fully an orange. There are hints of yellow with brownish spots throughout the tangerine, which resembles a sunset’s palette with a pebbled skin. From a top view, the tangerine is circular with a few dents, while from its sides are oval. The feeling reminds me of a basketball, making want to take a jump shot from where I’m sitting to the garbage can across the room. When I squeeze the tangerine, some areas are soft and some areas are firm. The weight of the tangerine is a lot heavier for its size. As I toss the tangerine in the air, I can get a feel of heavy weight of it especially for its size. When I smell the tangerine, it is the only thing I can compare to oranges because I know they both smell the same. The smell is actually calming, not something I would say about a tangerine surprisingly. The sound from flicking the tangerine gives off a “plucking” sound, sounding hollow. When I put the tangerine close to my ear to hear the sound when I peel it, it reminds me of velcro being pulled. When the tangerine is bare, the smell of the citrus smell becomes stronger. When I bite into one of the segments of the tangerine slowly, I can hear a low crunch sound similar to biting into celery. The tangerine is sweet, slightly tangy.
