The structure at that time was focused on employee participation, customer satisfaction, and profitability. The company’s culture and values are distinct from most of their competitors. This allows each employee or associate an environment to grow and achieve various positions within the company. That being said, the following are my recommendations for how Tanglewood could staff their operations.…

The “target” for recruiting efforts considering the retail business and customer service job should be anyone willing to work, with ability and eligibility to work. Diversity should be focused on. The methods they use for recruiting they use are media, referrals, kiosk, state job services and recruiting agencies for customer service job are all “open” recruiting methods. Due to the high employee turnover they have to consistently hire employees and open recruiting method best serves the requirement. It ensures that a diverse set of applicants apply because it doesn’t require a pre-entry qualification and serves the purpose of high volume application. The only method that is minimally targeted is the employment agency that requires qualified or trained customer service applicants to apply for the position.…

In evaluating the recruiting and hiring practices of Tanglewood for a potential disparate impact claim, we need to look at the historical flow and concentration statistics to see if there is an adverse impact possibility. A flow statistic is when we analyze applicants to actual people selected to be hired. The concentration statistic, analyzes the distribution of employees in the organization to provide a proportion statistic in determining disparate impact. We will look at the proportion of white employees compared to non-white employees and white employees compared to African American employees. We will use the 4/5ths rule being that 80% of the minority groups of non-white and African Americans compared to white groups are represented for all job categories.…

Based on the available positions, the targets for this recruiting campaign are candidates who are currently in high school, fresh out of high school and current college students. The reason for this, there is a large hiring pool when it comes to students in high school and coming out of high school especially for summer jobs. The target for current college students is due to the fact that college graduates are less likely to accept such an entry level position as their aim is to get into management. As mentioned before, those candidates are not willing to put in the “time” prior to getting to a management position and would rather look for a career path within their degree field.…
