Target Marketing
Target Marketing and Television Ads
Advertising is the most effective way to promote products. When companies choose the TV program for their advertisement, they often research the target market of the TV program, so that they could get the highest return. For example, a cosmetic companies always choose some women’s programing to promote their products for there are many ladies who are so obsessed with this kind of TV show.

I watched one of the most popular Chinese entertainment TV program, whose name is “ If you are the one” as an example to explain the relationship between target marketing and TV ads. “ If you are the one” is a wonderful dating show, which is produced buy the Jiangsu Television. There are many beautiful young ladies and handsome gentlemen take participate in this TV show. Therefore, it gains a wider audience from old to young. Here is the list of what I watched and what I think they are aimed at:
1. Bishengyuan weight reducing tea
As one part of the audiences of “ If you are one” are young ladies, who are more likely to have a strong willing to be slim. Bishengyuan weight reducing tea claims it can help you reduce weight in a healthy way and satisfy the need of losing weight. I think it is the most successful example of target marketing and TV ads because the sale volume increase sharply after ads were broadcasted in “ If you are one.”
2. Toyota’s new Camry
The Toyota’s new Camry is a new generation of Camry. The car, which is showed on the advertisement, is a red one. I think the red color means energetic and enthusiasm, it is the main character of young people, so in my opinion, as one part of the audiences of “If you are one” are young people, the Toyota Company wants more of them to buy their new Camry. At the same time, in the end of the advertisement, it shows that you only need to pay $199 for 24 months to own the new Camry. It is a huge temptation to young people because it tells them you do not have to worry about the money and

Often varying in message and purpose, commercials and advertisements have proven to be successful forms and methods of mass communication. The goals of advertisements is to appeal to their target audience in an effort to encourage or persuade that demographic to purchase their products and become their customer. Some companies may even have more than one commercial in an effort to reach and persuade those that are outside of their usual demographic to begin purchasing their products. Not only taking into account the obvious message, it is important to also analyze and look into the subcomponents, such as imagery and dialogue, that makes conveying their message successful.…

Target is one of the largest discount retailers in the United States and it competes with Walmart. For several years Target’s successful brand positioning assisted in slicing some of Walmart’s marketshare and for many years its’ business grew at a faster pace than Walmart. However, in 2008 due to economic conditions, global recession and higher unemployment, consumers became more frugal and Target experienced three straight quarters of flat same-store sales growth and a slight decrease in store traffic. During this same period Walmart experienced an increase in profits. In an attempt to stimulate Target’s sales growth, CEO Gregg Steinhafel executed a new marketing strategy in response to the turbulent economic dynamics. The new strategy attempted to take Target’s marketing slogan, Expect More, Pay Less, and emphasize the “pay less” versus the “expect more”. By 2010 Target finally saw a five percent increase in sales and profits rose significantly by fifty-four percent. However, I question whether the increase was totally a result of the marketing strategy given the economy had improved.…

While observing a Planet Fitness marketing commercial, we as a group deciding to pick this commercial. We felt that Planet Fitness only caters to people who are new to the gym or at the beginner level in fitness. As we were doing research on Planet Fitness we found that the facility isn’t your average gym. They don’t offer the same type of equipment that caters to people that range from beginners to advanced athletes, they only have light to medium heavy weights which are the dumbbells that range from 2.5lbs to 75lbs and the rest of the equipment are mainly machines mostly geared towards cardio fitness. A feature that they have in there gym’s is ``The Lunk Alarm``. This is where if an individual while working out grunts or makes any loud noise such as dropping the weights an air raid siren –style alarm will go off along with flashing lights. This alarm brings attention to any individual having them publicly humiliated. The individual is able to set off the alarm a maximum of three times before his membership is terminated and he is forced out of the gym. While this gym offers low rates, free pizza one night a week to all gym members and all the candy you can eat 24/7 it’s a gym that is designed to sabotage the individual's health and their chances of improving their daily lives while feeding their bad habits.…

Unlike other company’s we plan on pursing steady growth and sustainability, therefore in the first few years our assets will be focused in the areas of plant upgrades, employee training and brand awareness/positioning.
