1.1 Describe how current health & Safety legislation, policies and procedures are implemented in the setting.

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
Duties and standards on all aspects of control of substances hazardous to health including chemicals, dust, micro-organisms and dangerous pathogens.
Cleaning products, chemicals, first aid supplies must be clearly and correctly labeled. Any substances that are deemed harmful such as irritants and toxic or corrosive substances must not be used unless a risk assessment has been carried out and a procedure in place for its use.

Personal Protective Equipment
Duties and standards relating to provision, assessment, maintenance, accommodation, information and use of personal
Protective equipment.
Any PPE that is provided for a particular activity must be worn.

Reporting of Injuries, Diseases & Dangerous Occurrences Regulations
Form HSW4 (in triplicate) is available in pad form from Dave Goodwin or electronically via the ‘Loop’
Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
Designed to protect everyone at work through procedures for preventing accidents.
All employees and non-employees have a duty to take reasonable care for Health and safety of themselves and any other persons who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions at work.
Employers have a duty to ensure premises, equipment and procedures are effective in the provision of a safe working environment.
Duty:
To report all accidents/ incidents, defects and dangerous occurrences on Form HSW4 (to be found in the finance office)
Not to misuse or interfere with anything provided in the interest of Health, safety or Welfare.
Conform to good standards of housekeeping, safety or hygiene
To carry out those particular responsibilities detailed in their individual job description.
